History of FFF

In 2001 a small group of classmates from the 1981 graduating class of Fairview High School in Boulder Colorado took it upon themselves to start making a difference.
What began as nothing more than a few friends having dinner or playing golf and reminiscing about the good old days, quickly became something that none of them could have foreseen - and a springboard to something far larger than themselves. With a desire to use their friendship as the impetus and guiding force behind their call to help others, they set out on an uncharted course to create a new type of charitable organization - one that didn't just sit by and wait for the call to come in, but rather, an organization that reached out proactively in its efforts to lessen the burden for others.
And so it all began. A bottle of wine, a gift basket, a gift card - random acts of kindness, sent out with the simple intention of just saying "someone is thinking about you".
But it soon became clear that, for some, a gift basket wasn't going to be enough...
Fast forward to 2010. With their 501c3 nonprofit status firmly in place and a Board of Directors comprised of accomplished professionals, The Fairview Friends Foundation has just begun to find its stride. With members and ambassadors from the classes of '79-2010, they've raised and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars, put on a dozen world-class fundraising events, and impacted the community in a hundred different ways. Far from finished with their work, the Foundation seeks to continue to expand their reach beyond that of a local nonprofit. Current initiatives range from assisting cancer and stroke victims, to raising funds in support a heart transplant recipient, to some down-home football game tailgating in support of their alma mater, Fairview High. Throw in a scholarship fund here and there, and you'll start to get an idea of just how far they've come (oh yeah...and they're still doing those gift baskets every week).
And though it feels like only yesterday when the self described beer babes, hack golfers, and ex-cheerleaders laughed and talked about how they could make a difference in the world, it's clear that they've actually come a long way - and that they have indeed made a difference for many.
